They fool that the first woman elected should he thoroughly acquainted with the social conditions of the city.For five years, under the name of Cynthia Grey, I fought, through the columns of one of the leading newspapers of the city, for every law or ordinance that would in any degree better the conditions, socially* and morally, under which we live. Thousands of 'unfortunate citizens, ashing advice through letters addressed to Cynthia Grey, were given consideration and concern personally, and through this acquaintanceship I* determined just what measures -would protect and better women and children, and wluil measures would he detrimental.
