And~ Miss Emily ‘Hobbs is| Here from Wheeling Rep resenting League. * To form a Golden Jubilee League Vanner shall pay for the erection of = grand triumphal arch to be erect e§1 at Wheeling for the semi-centen ial is the project which Miss Emily ohanbs, of Wheeling, representing the semi-centennial committee, is pro moting in Clarksburg. This league is to have a membership of 300,000 and each member will have his or her name inscribed on a roll of hon our, one copy of which will be present ed to President Woodrow Wilson. No age limit has been placed on the membership. The youngest members of the organization are the two day ‘old twins of Mr. and Mrs. J. H Dren nam of Parkersburg. The oldest mem ber is Joseph Peacock,’ of Wheeling, (who is 05 years-old, . =|. @jm The triumphal arch which is to be rejected will be a magnificent struct ure, and it will be kept at Wheeling for some time after the semi-centen nial has closed. On this arch will be placed a copy of the 1st of members of the league which will build the structure. Other copies of the roll of honor will be kept by the governor of the state, and by educational Insti tutions. One copy will be preserved to read at the celebration of the hun dredth anniversary of the founding of West Virginia, . Miss Hobbs has been traveling over the state getting members for the or ganization and she says that she has been meeting with much success. At many places she has spoken in the schools and she has succeeded in get ting many school children to join the league. Had she arrived in Clarks [here earlier she would have spoken in 8 arranged with SSS the schools but she hi Superintendent Burdette that he pre sent the matter to the teachers. Miss Hobbs has received much encourage ment here and she believes that the Golden Jubilee League will have a large membership here. Each mem ber will be presented with a certifi cate of membership. The certificate of membership, to gether with membership buttons, will be on sale at stores of Parsons and Saunders, the James and Law Com pany, Wells and Haymaker, Sturm and Wilson, Stone and Mercer and Druggist Farrell. .
