The council acted on various orders and ordinance* of (he finance commit* tee. One was the order for the cancel lutIon of the contract of the Fuel Engineering Com pan? for tenting coul delivered to the pumping Ntatlons which the recent contracts provided was to he tested by the city laboratories. The udvisibility und the necessity of these supplemental tests was questioned by Aid. Merrlum at I he previous meeting, and thut subject was taken up at leugth In public beurlng of the Merrlam commission him Friday morning.The finance committee offered un amendment to the testing contract ordinance. The original ordluance provided an appropriation of 94.284 for a continuation of the tests throughout a year. The amendment was the substitution of 11.904, which will compensate the testing company for only four months, or an additional period of sixty days from dute, whloh Is the term required In the contract for u warning of a cancellation by the city.
