Two Alvin men suspected of stealing over $300 worth of leather goods from a motorcyclist have until Wednesday to return the goods or the victim will press charges, police nee Tuesday. David Douglas -Mehl told police Sgt. Glenn Starkey he had been playing pool with one of the suspects at the Cedar Lane Tavern Sunday night. After the game was over the suspect left the tavern, Mehl told Starkey. Not long after that Mehl went outside and discovered his hat, leather vest and leather jacket were missing from where he left them on his bike. The next evening a friend of Mehl’s discovered the suspect wearing the stolen hat. When Mehl confronted the man about the hat the suspect said another friend had found several items along the road and had given him the hat, police were told. Mehl told police he only wanted to get his property back and that if it is returned to him by Wednesday he will not press charges. The suspect said he would return the other goods as soon as he could get them from his friend, Starkey reported.
