ABERDEEN (AP) — Yankton, High School’s Eastern South Dakota Conference Golf cham pions added the state title to their conquests Saturday, and Jerry McDermott of Sturgis made a first-day lead stand up to win the individual crown, McDermott, who shot a 74 in Friday’s first round, followed with 40-37—77 over the Prairie wood Golf Course Saturday for a 151 total. Pete Smith, Rapid City Stevens, was runnerup with 161, putting a 41-39—8) with his opening 81 for a 161. There was a three-way tie for third place among Scott Shind ler, Yankton, Mike Bloomberg, Huron, and Duane Laford, Mit chell, as each finished at 162. In the playoff for the medals, Laford got third place, followed by Shindler and Bloomberg. Laford macked McDermott’s 77 in Saturday’s play with the day’s only par nine, shooting 41-36. Six medals were awarded in the individual competition. Al Bales of Huron won a playoff from George Christopulos, Sioux Falls Lincoln, and Dave Osheim, Watertown, after each had posted a 165. Yankton’s team score was 672 with Bob Marchand and Steve Shhindler scoring 169s and Bruce Barnes 172 to go with Scott Shindler's 162. Rapid City Stevens took sec ond place with 681 followed by Sioux Falls Lincoln with 684, Watertown 700, Brookings 708, Mitchell 714 and Pierre 736.
