Local Vian Chosen Presi dent of Dixie Breeders Association. Hampshire hog breeders of the south, at a meeting at Gayoso Farms, Horn Lake, Miss., yesterday perfected the organization of the Dixie Hampshire Breeders’ associa tion with CG, Smith of Blythe ville as president. D. Aiken, man ager of the Gayoso Farms, where one of the finest Hampshire herd in the country is owned, was elect ed secretary of the new associa tion. The purpose of the association will be to develop interest in th Hampshire breed among southern farmers. Hampshires are just be ginning to make their appearance in this part of the country in later numbers, and southern farmers are finding them well adapted to their purposes by virtue of their rang ing ability and the high quality of their meat Eugene Harsh, secretary of the Hampshire Swine Record associa tion, with headquarters at Peoria Ill, stopped here today on his way home from the Horn Lake meet ing and discussed arrangements for a Hampshire exhibit at the Mississippi county fair with Mr Smith and other local men inter ested in the breed. He promised to furnish a well qualified judge for the exhibit. Many Mississippi county farmers are making a start with Hamp shires this year as the result of purchase of a car load of bred guilts last winter through the local cham ber of commerce and Livestock Credit corporation.
