( •I«rr4 M. H. Olrbralioo.Tlx* Sabbath School* of the colored 1‘rwhytorlin and Missionary Raptist Churches had a grand display and picnic last Friday morning, at the McGuire Grove. The colored Methodist school would have taken part in it, had it not interferred with their fast day and quarterly meeting. In front came a tine carriage, in which aat the aristocratic colored ladies. Next came the inovita^ hie drum and fife at the head of the column. A large nuiulmrof mottoes were emblazoned aloft 0:1 the banners, and among them we noticed, 44 Let us have peace—1*. s. Grant”; “Peace, be slid”; “Onward and upward : 4‘ I^et there be no strife between tbee and tne; 44 Kdu-cation and enlightenment in transitu*’; 4‘ Lung live our Queen.” Rebind thorn was a larger wagon drawn by two black dashing steeds, on which sat a ntimber of partially colored ladles. In the centre of the group was an evergreen structure, under which the “Queen of May’* was to be crowned. The children were very nicely, and some of them elegantly, dressed, and looked very happy and joyous. Cyrus Webster is the teacher of the Missionary Sabbath School, and Lucius Armstrong is Superintendent of the Presbyterian School.Pfmaal.Col. H. G.
