School is out this week and for most of us that officially ushers in summer. But now, along with the luxury of a little extra time on our hands comes the problem of keeping those active young minds oc cupied. The book selection commit tee for our Kimble County Li brary has anticipated this need and a large selection of new books’ will be on the shelves for summer reading. There are the action packed books, wholesome and enter taining reading for teen-age boys and girls. There is an exciting new series of original works of fiction, written for the younger generation by au thors of established reputa tion. Easy to read narrative history for all the family, such as ‘‘Apalachee Gold” by Frank G. Slaughter, “Bride of Liber ty” by Frank Yerby and many others. Then there are the books especially designed for the forgotten reader who has out-grown childrens books, but is not quite ready for popular best sellers, such as “The Iron Mistress” by Paul I. Wellman, condensed and simplified by James L. Summers. There will be plenty of adult books too, just to mention a few, a novel that’s bound to be talked about is “The Last Temptation” by Joseph Vier tel, and for sheer pleasure, Betty McDonald’s “Onions In The Stew.” Besides all the wonderful new books for the very, very young reader, the library will again have a Story Telling Hour this summer. All of the Study Clubs have graciously agreed to help with this pro ject and we hope that all the children up to teen-age will come to hear the stories. It will be held for the first time this summer, on the Court house lawn (for inside if it is) on Friday at 10 o'clock, June 3. Mrs. Daisy Hardeman will tell the first story and we all know what a treat that
