Died.At her home in this city, on Sunday, May 15, 190-1, at 4:35 p. m., Mr?. George A. Pratt of pernicious anaemia.S irah TIa'.l Pratt was born in Plainfield, Vermont, Sept. 12th, 1841, When eleven years old her parents moved to White* water, Wis. She graduated from Rockford Seminary in 1860, coming to teach the two following years in Poit Atkinson high school. She married Geo. A. Pratt June 22nd, 1864, in Whitewater and for nearly forty years their home has been in this town. Mr. Pratt died last Thanksgiving morning and no doubt grief and loneliness aggravated her long and serious illness. She was a member of the Congregational church during this period andSupt. of its Sun-o day School for many years, g. Mrs. Pratt was always in-n tensely patriotic, and so r.atur-e ally became one of the charter . members of the Fort Atkinson Chapter of the Daughters of Q the American Revolution. She a was its Regent during the year j just passed.A son, Edward Williams Pratt, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and a daughter, Mary Pratt Bright of Milwaukee; also two grandchildren survive her.Two sons passed away many years ago. She also has two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Blakeslee of Whitewater and Mrs. Chas.J. Woodbury of Oakland, California. The above are the bare facts concerning a most useful and beautiful life. But those who have known Mrs. Pratt are able to clothe them with her unique and attractive personality, a personality never to be forgotten. She was, pre-eminently, a friend, and numberless people, both here and elsewhere, will feel a sense of deep and individual loss when they hear that she has gone. Her work in the Sunday School, in the Tuesday Club, in the local chapter of the D. A. R. has left its mark. But it was for the quiet kindnesses, the helpful word, the witty remark that made the day more cheery, the cordial welcome to her pleasant home that we all loved re her.In the words of a recent writer, she was “one of those people who make a tremendous difference” and her place in the world will not be soon oreasily filled.—Jefferson County Union.
