Huron College golfer Craig Rink has been named to the All-South Dakota Inter collegiate Conference golf team. Rink joins three golfers from conference tournament champion Dakota State College and one from South Dakota Tech. Named from Dakota State were Doug Richards, who defeated Rink in a three-hole playoff for medalist honors in the conference tourney, along with Denny Rolfes and Jody Boline. Clark Anderson was the Tech golfer named to the All-SDIC squad. H.C. golf coach Vern Tate had words of praise for Rink, saying “he was the out standing golfer in the con ference. Consistently, day in and day out, he would be the low shooter of all the good ones. Tate explained that it was a “streak of luck’’ that helped Richards beat Rink in the playoff. “Craig shot a 71 on the final round, which was the lowest round for the two-day tour nament, to tie him with Richards. Both golfers parred the first two holes of the playoffs and their tee shots landed together on the par five third hole, which was into the wind and uphill. Craig’s second shot was right down the fairway and landed about five feet from the green while Richard’s landed about 30 feet off. Richard’s chip shot the flag stick and dropped straight down, about a foot and half from the cup, allowing him to sink his fourth shot for a birdie. Craig chipped on and parred the hole, but it wasn’t enough.”’
