Work of Grading Begins Tomorrow: Location Be ing Picked Today. Thomp son Closes Route Deal Tomorrow actual work on the construction of a landing field for airplanes near the city will begin. This announcement was made last night by Rey A. Stamm, chairman of the city air board. The air board, which consists of Arthur Prager, K. HW. Caikina, M. H. Weed and B Stamm, are making an inspection of available sites in order to hoose a suit able spot. There are three under consideration at the present time. Stamm says that the city, coun ty and state have offered to co operate in the preparation of a bonding ground and the erection of hangars and a gas and oil tank. The city is donating the graders and men for the work beginning on the grounds tomorrow. The hangars can be purchased ceanls from the government and the en tire cost of financing will be small, according to members of the board. With the completion of the landing Meld Albuquerque will be placed on the aeronautical map of the country, becoming the prin cipal station on the north and south lateral route connecting the four transcontinental air routes Co incident with the announce ment of the work on the field Tommie Thompson, local aviator has announced the completion ©) a deal whereby an aerial service between Albuquerque and the San Juan valley may be started. Impetus to the aerial idea here was given by the National Aecre nautic association of the U. S. A., Which requested the forma tion of a loenafy board and has provided plans and specifications for a field, and its markings.
