A friend of the Journal has furnished the following copy of a petition the people of Lander have forwarded to President: Harrison and Nevada’s Senatora and Rep resentative, Austin, Nevada, May 20, 1890. To the President of the United States: We, your petitioners, citizens of Lander county, humbly represent that the Hon. RB. B. Bigelow, an ex-union soldier, hut at present District Judge of the State of Ne vada, is eminently qualified to fill any ju dicial position. He has filled the position of District Judge of Nevada, the District Court having unlimited jurisdiction, to the entire satis faction of the bar and people. He is honest, industrious and well versed in all the branches of the law, and is the most popular Judge in the State. C.: Dsax Suns.—We send enclosed petition for the appointment of Judge B. R. Bige low to the position of United States Dis trict Judge, for the District of Nevada. His appointment would give more suhs faction to all the people of this State, than the appointment of any other man. The enclosed petition is signed by the principal business man here, and by a few others whom we happened to find Inset night; but we could have had the signatures of every man in Lander county, as neces sary, but have dlone this much hurridly, for want of time. ‘You will pardon us for saying that, with out any doubt, Judge Bigelow is the dear Tadge of Novas, in the estimation of all our people, irrespective of political affilia tions, and on any proposition that he might be voted upon in Inder, Nye, Elko, Humboldt, Churchill, White Pine, Eureka, or Lincoln counties, he would receive al most, if not quite, the entire popular vote.
