The occurrence was witnessed by several peo-i it I** who were in adjoining premises and when the hurried io render assistance they found Mr. Halleii dead. The deceased left Dorrlgo I in September last for Sydney to consult a specialist about his eyes and had been an inmate ol the hospitalever since, it was reported to his;reopl«- that he was making splendid pi ogress and Mr. Halleit himself w as in h«», es that he would soon be well lt;noneh io return to Dorrigo. C. 1 \ Ca.shiu. The Manchester Uuity I.O.O.K burial service was also read at the graveside by the l)e| uty DH t riit GraiidiiinKler. Pro. Anlezark. Amongst ihe mourners present wore all the childrven of deceased and on** brother (Mr. Charles Hallmi. ol Ciunga).The late Mr. Halletl. who was 71 years of age. was bom at Praidwool and was the third son of the !:*.««* Mr. and Mrs George Halleit. who re sided in the Rraidwood district for many years. When Mr. Halleit was in his early teens the family left for Glen limes, from that centre deceased went to Narrabri and after tlt;-siding there for about 20 years, dining the whole of which lime lie wn:t in the employ of a storekeeper. ii»* look up land at Glencoe, near Glen I lines, and followed farming pursuits. Disposing of his interests in that district he came to Dorrigo with hi* wife and family about IS years aji and purchasing Mr. G. Clancy's farm on the Upper Beilsdown engaged *n dairy farming. Twelve years ago lie retired and leasing his farm came m town to reside and remained here uo to the time of ids departure for Sydney a few mouths ago. Deceased was .** prominent Oddfellow, havinir gone through all the offices to the I Past Giands Lodge. He was also .i keen memler of the local Orange Lodge for some years and for a period a trustee of the Methodist Church. His wire died in Dorrigo 14 years ago. Mr. Hallett is survived bv a family of three sons and two daughters, namely. Messrs. John Leslie i Hornsby I. Edward Stanley lt;AI stonvillei and Rmest Alfred iDnr-rigoi. and Mesdames W. Lean (Thorn I and W. H. Whittaker (Do*-rigo). Several brothers and sisters reside in this Stale and Queensland.
