Tin* citizens of Parkersburg are very desirous of government ownership of tlu* little Kanawha river. It si'ins there are few people in our neighbor city down the river, who have been throwing «old water on the proposed project The amount offered by the Government for the property of the Little Kanawha Navigation Company would amount to but a drop in the bucket to the people of Parkersburg as compared to the benefits to be derived from Government ownership of tins property. The public spirited individual. however, who puts liis^ money into this enterprise, occupies a different position to that ■of the public at large, and the •counties of Wood and Wirt have in thryears past received large returns for their investment. The Kanawha \ alley has been a feeder for Parkersburg, made possible through the efforts of the individuals that pushed this enterpriseto completion formally long years.
