They can attend one of two, I eight-week summer camps; i Camp Powhatan in III was see, or Camp Ottari in Snowsville,. i Both camps offer insturction in swimming, boating, hiking, * camping, riflery, archery and ecology'. Older scouts may participate inthe High Knoll Trail progrn ^hich is similar to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, expept on a smaller scale.As Judge Dalton said, “Over and over the story of Camp Powhatan has been told but it is a story that will never grow old. With luck, scouts will hear an older man with a slow, but distinct Southwest Virginia accent tell the story which starts “Hello all you Scouts and Scouters. How many of y’all are here for the first time? Welcome to Camp Powhatan!Now, it all started at the Battle of Ooyd’s Mountain...”
