Wo have long desired the old power house site and we new feel we cannot let that site be used for public lavatories without raising our voices against such a project. As a progressive body wo Teel that members of the Council themselves must really he against the Idea for they have many plans to beautify the town in the future and such a splendid position is worthy cT something better than buildings which are mostly sadly abused. To you. our civic fathers, wo members of ih** C.W.A. say ‘please give us the old power-house site. We will provide w* II-cared-for lavatories for women and children ns a rest room which you will be proud to own neighbour.'We thank you for the help you have always given our branch Somehow we reel if it la In your power you will help us Htlll further.”President: That sounds all right tome. gentlemen, but there Is one point that bristles with ditliculties. I understand from Mrs. Coodhew that the Constitution of the C.W.A. insiststhat title deeds cf all rest roomsmust become the property ..f the C.W.A Mr. Tully would not agreewith that and 1 think that we should ask the C.W.A. if such deeds would be vested In the Council or C.W.ACr Lund: 1 don't understand them holding the deeds. The C.W.A. hutat Cmillmrn is in the Court Housegrounds, ami they wcubl not he allowed the de*1 ds o)i such property. I am sure. The President then moved thatthe C.W.A. be asked to state if such rooms would l»e vested in the Council or the C.W.A.Cr. King, in seconding the motion, said he would like tlt;» congratulate the women In protesting against the land being used as a site for public lavatories. I'm one hundred percent, with them in saying the land should not he used for such place**.President: My personal feelingsabr/ut public lavatories could not be Incorporated In a motion «.f that Character. Cr. King, hut I am ready to support a motion that their action In offering to build a rest room which would in'rlude Invtcrlos for women and children be approved.Cr. McIntosh was a ready seconder and the motmn was carried in a manner which left no room for doubt that If the ladles and Mr. Tally can come to some arrangement the Council will give Its blessing and speed the work.
