Who Owns tlie hUads ?Montreal, May The majority of the court of apneal in the CMN of Thom son ami Hum man and Hurd man and Thompson involving the ownership of Table Hock” and other islands at the Chaudiere Falla, 111 the Ottawa river, between Hull and Ottawa, held that tliey were the property of the crown, otherwise the Quebec government, until sold as the Ottawa river throughout, in spite of the Falls, must be deemed a navigable rivsg and that the bed of such was public projier-ty This was a confirmation of the su|ierior I court judgment and is a victory for the Hurdmans and the Quebec government. Thompson claimed that this property was originally comprised in the grant to Hiilo-men Wright, Judges Wurtelle and Hall dissented from the majority on the ground that the portion of the Ottawa river luvolv-od is lt;lear|y not navigable.
