IN THE NEW THEATER—FULL LIST OF STOCKHOLDERS. Architect Wood Hore—His Per fected Plans Displayed—~Bidders Must Make Their Figures by Thursday of This Week. Col. J. M. Wood tumbled out of the 8:15 train yesterday morning, fresh as 4 dalay, anatched a hasty breakfast at the New comb, and, when a Henaan representa tive arrived there shortly after, was pacing the corridors, waiting for the directors to come around and set him to work on the niew theater. “I think the house should be called The Empire,” he said. “That describes the character of the interior and is most appropriate. No, I don't suppose every body will understand it at first, but we might as well educate the people first as last. The theater is a liberal education itself. I will awaken and develope the artistic sense in all who go there. For, without meaning to be egotistical, I fesl e convinced that you will have a more ex quisitely attractive house in architecture, Deauty and harmony of decorations, and in all the adioncte which please the eye, than can be found in any only under 100, 000 inhabitants in the United States. It will be, to some extent,a copy of the Brockton, Cal., theater. That house traveling companion of the beat character openly advertise as the most artistic gem of ao theater in the country. It is 2,200 miles from here to Brockton and there is no reason why Quincy may not get the full advantage of the brainy and artistic ideas that have gone into that model theater. The in terior decorations there cost $6,500. Here they will cost only about $3,900. For the plaster relief figures and designs, the pat terns which were used for the Stockton theater will be brought from San Fran cisco and made to do service in custing the designs here.” The committee said Col. Wood had pretty nearly an all day session yesterday. The plans substantially as outlined hereto fore were all gone over by the architect and explained with such thoroughness that everyone readily encuratood them. All the figures and measurements were shown and the perfect detail for the work. Col. Wood does not know what is meant by procrastination or delay. He is a hustler, and he wants everyone to hustle with whom he has any business. To take until December 1 for the completion of the theater would be, in his opinion, un pardonable. He believes it should be ready for the opening early in November. To that end bids are today advertised for, as will be seen elsewhere in this issue, for the masonry, carpenter work and plastering. The bids must be in by Thursday of this week, seemingly a short time, but all the data, details, measurements and every thing are made so plain and complete that there will be no occoasion for delay on the part of any enterprising contractors who want to do the job. There was no talk about the name yes terday, there were too many important matters for consideration. One stook holder offers The Criterion, aashin sugges tion. It has a good stand and would do very well. Quite a respectable number of persons atill cling tenaciously to The Empire, and unless something yet unsug gested comes up, The Empire it is likely to ha. The papers have all been received from the secretary of state, with the full list of stockholders, making up the $40,000 stock.
