RAIDINU THE RANCHES. [^otlirr lt;iaU and JetiltiE TVIIaon, to*gether with Their Vtftltor* and “Boarder*.” taken In byIhcCopi Lanltight, I ITftiex0* 1Capt. Morrisey, with officers Sullivan and Rodabaugh, did some successful raiding last I ^ night, and the city cooler as well as the Mayor’s court presented an animated appearance this morning. The first den visited was that of Hattie | *\ Gall, on High street, one of the most notorious and low-down ranches in the city, | r It is rarely that any but the worst characters visit this place of infamy, and yet the police found there last night two young men f who assume to be respectable. The names | ( given in are Jacob Burns and Robert Jones, both ficticious. We could give the real uatnes, but out of respect to others who would suffer in their dlsgrftce,8uppress them, with the assurance, however, that the next time they are caught in the officers’ net the Pharos will give them all the publicity possible. At the same time Mother Gall, Katie Miller and Callie Loenard, inmates of the house, were “taken in” by the officers, and the quintet lodged in the city calaboose* They settled with the Clerk this morning.Jennie Wilson, of the Northside, was next visited by the officers. They found J j. I the Madam “at home” engaged in enter-] taining to the best of her ability four evening callers. The posse was captured by the cops and until this morning were permitted to enjoy the hospitality of the city cooler. The following is the gnng: Jennie Wilson, Kate Rihe, Ower Beardsley, Wilson Adams, John Doe and Calvin Novclry. Up ^ to this writing their cases have not been W disposed of, but it if safe to say they will n I contribute something to the support of the city government, ic I The activity shown by the new police i’s force is commendable and it is to be hoped they will continue to fight it out on this 1*1 line if it takes all summer. The best interests of the city demand that this crying s-1 evil shall be abated as far as possible to do ut so. It is for this purpose, in common with re others, that the city has a police force, and o-1 we hope the Police Board and Capt. Mor-rlsey will see to it that the work inaugurated last night will continue whenever theicire-p-__ I occasion requires it. The moral welfare ofnold the city demands that the work should go on industriously.IBHenry Kelly was also slated for a plainr-ysdrunk, having been run in last night by Policeman Baker. He was committed.
