C. was born in Winchester, Vu.# j July 24th, 1792, and moved lo thi* city in ]8j7, wher*? uq has continued to reside up to ibe ti me of hid demise. He took part in the war of 1812, and was hi the battle, known an “P**rrv'» Victory” «n Lake Eric and for gallant service, received from the Government • of Pennsylvania a Silver Medal, accompa* | nied by a letter of thanks.At the commencement of the late w.r with Mexico, he raided two companies of volunteer*. The firrtt was reported too late for re-ceptiou, bul with the »lt; cond company he j went to Mexico ai their Captain, and was | sent home *ick a bhort time before hi* time ' had lt;xpired.His funeral will take plncc this evening at 4 o’clock from his residence on 4:h reet, and will attended with Masonic cere* mnhies, of which Fraternity Cupt C. was u worthy member. *
