For the Democraf.uPro bono pubhco BKOWNSTOWN. 5Respectfully dedicated to Columbus EwinbyFRIENDLESS VIOLET.Look here my iriends, while I paint A picture you ail have seen;Though the colors are very laint,They represent old Jackscn’s Queen.Of the Quee^you all have heard,In youth’s spring time of life,Though she is not a gay bird,With many evils she is rife.Perhaps you’ll like for me to tell,Whom this strange Queen can be,In plankroads she doth go an ell!But in railroads goeth tmiee!It is a famous town, not far From Jackson county’s center,And where there is no funh;r bar Which impertinence can enter.This town is very celebrated For men, who call “a blow”Ev’ry one not predicated All and every thing to knew.They have called a blow and blown,Until they have blown out All the improvement ever known,Or had the courage to set about.They have depended on a -ailroad,To improve and build their town,If it. had been a tree toadTheir disappointment they drown;They said a railroad could not fail—•A saying that was very /rue,Jf they hadn’t blown it out of hail!Perhaps about a Joot or ft00/They now mourn o’er a cruel fate,That a railroad from them threw,And now they are disconsolate,For they know not what to do;But still they brag, bore and blow*.' In spite of all their sorrow,They confidently seem to crowO’er their bright prospect, to-morrow!Their bright prospect seems to me,That his very slim and slender,Although I may not straightly see The Gas that they do lend her;They are so very full of gas,I conscienciously believe They will make a balloon of “sassj9 Aud from Brovvustown take their leave.If th$y don't do this, I have no doubt,But the citizens would pay it!From Louisville to bring .1 spout,And even help to lay it!To carry off the surplus gas,That in our midst is growing,And if they don’t, I cry alas!Destruction fast we are sowing.From gas, from blow, and blowing, Respectfully I take my leave,But that the evil is growing,None can help but perceive;The remedy is very near.And less complex than Czar or Turk, Citizens, now if you want 10 hear Listen to me, go to work!
