PLANK ROADS. .We copy tho following from the Koseiusco Republican. It is tho commencement of a lengthy article on the-subject of Plank Roads, and comprises what is interesting to this locality.Since the peopio have rosolvedto build a plank road from this county to Fort Wayne, with tho view also of extending it westward as far as Plymouth, they cannot but be profited and gratified by any information which may relate to the subject. We now therefore, propose to show our citizens and the citizens of tho country by relating a few facts, existing and prospective, the importance of pushing ahead this work, and of also in a short time undertaking and .completing others, which are seeking to be extended to this point.Southbend and Michigan City are each about to build plank roads connecting those places withPlymouth. Fort Wayno and Piqua Ohio and tho intermediate region are building a plank road from tho city of Fort Wayno to Piqua, that is to connect with tho Oliio turnpikes leading to Cin: cinnati and to tjie interior of that State. Fort Wayne is about being put in connection with Blufl’ton by a plank road, and Camden and Port-, land and Deerfield and Winchester, are about to nttempt thejbuilding of a plank road from the latter place to Fort Wayne, and thus put Fort Wayne by that route, in connection with Cincinnati by plank road and turnpike. These roads centering at Fort Wayne from the east and south Will bring via that point all that vast tide of emigration and travel, which is constantly flowing from Central and Southern Ohio Eastern Indiana and the States beyond, towards the Northwest, and which now is forced by the bad roads to j ass to tho north or the south of us. Then let our road from Fort Waync to Plymouth, and that from Plymouth to Michigan City bo built, and ail this travel and emigration will pass over our road ffor it is the most direct,) and a good share of it will be attracted by our fertile soil, to stop here, and assist in clearing away the forest, and swell-ing our aggregate wealth and increasing our population*. Under such circumstances, to stop to argue that the stock would yield a handsome profit, were but a wastfrofthno for that is obvious to all.
