ADAMS — From its origins as a one-day affair five years ago, the Polish National Alliance (PNA) Polka Holiday expands to a three-day event this year, running Friday through Sunday. Highlighting the weekend will be the Jimmy Starr Orchestra, the nation’s number one polka band, according to Mr. Zabek. The band will play at an old-fashioned Polish iinic at the Polanka Sunday af ernoon, Saturday evening at 6:30, the first Polka Holiday Mini-Parade will march from the PNA Club to the Mill Street pavilion. Mr. Zabek said Thursday advance ticket sales are well ahead of the pace set last year, when the festival brought an estimated 10,000 persons to the Polanka at one time. Word of the celebration, which is rated the second largest in New England by Chicago’s Polka Press International, is spread by the bands as they tour and through other Polish clubs and organizations. Ads are already booked for next ear, Mr. Zabek said, and advertising is being planned.
