Rocky Marciano To Be HonoreditKocicy Marciano will be honored at the third annual Sportsmen’s World Awards banquet in Las Vegas on June 28.The undefeated heavyweight boxing champ was a runaway favorite in this year’s balloting by more than a hundred noted sportscasters and sportswriters across the country comprising a National Selections Committee.He will be one of about a dozen athletic greats of the past to receive golden 'Victor’ statuettes, symbol of the Sportsmen’s World Awards. The event at the Sands Hotel is sponsored by the Sportsmen's Club for the Cityof Hope, with proceeds going to support the freeRocky Marcianoand nonsectarian medical and research center.W. R. (Bill) Schroeder of the Helms Athletic Foundation, and Los Angeles sportscaster Chuck Benedict are co - chairmen of the National Selections Committee.This year’s event will be distributed for national television by Metromedia Producers Corp. Joey Bishop will serve as Master erf Ceremonies, joined by several celebrity guest presenters of the 'Victor’ awards.TWA has been designated as the official carrier for the Sportsmen’s World Awards, and will fly the honorees to Las Vegas from all over theworld.
