Five new teachers have been sign ed at Scranton to 1i11 vacancies created by resignations. Contracts were offered to all the present fa culty members except those who had previously submitted their resignations. . The new vocational agriculture Instructor will be Carl Whipple, who has taught at Corning for the past six years and at Clarion for two years. He is an Iowa State col lege graduate and has a wife and two small sons. The family will move to the C. B. Pletcher resi dence, north of Scranton, about July 1. He will succeed Robert Mease, who left Apr. 9 for air corps duty after a half year in the school, and Rich ard Halstead of West Union, recent Graduate of ISC who was contract ed to complete the term. Homer Bisfang, who has been football, basktball and track coach for the past two years, has resigned to do graduate work at Iowa State Teachers college. Laurence Bitcon, graduating from ISTC this year, will be the new football, is basketball and track coach and physical education in structor. Bitcon comes highly re commended by Coach ‘Buck’ Star beck, who was visited here a num ber of times in recent years. He is considered the best ISTC prospect In the coaching field and was a star football player A native of Green field, he is married. Miss Patricia Uthe, who has taught home economics at Scran ton for the past three years, is leaving the teaching field anmd,will, probably work’ at’ Des Moinés. Miss Louise Jeffords of Ft. Dodge, an ISTC graduate, will be her succes sor. Miss Celia Buddin, English and dramatics instructor, has resigned after eight years here; her plans are unknown. The new teacher is Mrs Leone Richardson. Harry Hills, ISC graduate who will teach science, completes the faculty, He replaces James Seitz, resigned. ‘The school went to a salary sched ule this year, Supt E .Allen Colbert reported He added that more teachers and rooms were needed, but things would remain as is for another year.
