Our people invested [40,000 more in new homes and and repairs in 1912, when the citywas dry than they did in 1913 when the city was wet.‘‘Nor has the saloon reduced our taxes. On the contrary, they extended the §40,000 received from the saloon and increased the taxes by 20 per cent.“I find upon investigation thatthis is the usual result of the introduction of the saloon into a community.4‘I am frank to say local option was not a complete success in Everett, largely for the reason that the law was not enforced as it should have been by our public officials.“It did, however teach our people to investigate for themselves and they have learned a valuable lesson.NO CHEAP WHEAT FROM CANADA
