Charles Noves, who. it wilY be remembered, ( rands ehsrgol with kidaapo inc negroes, was, at about eight o'clock fcaturasy evening, stand- ■, ing on the corner of Dearborn and I*anduloh streets, when he was approached by Scott, the brother of the abducted negro, whom he saluted familiarly with *' Ah, Governor Scott, how do you do?” and ther shook hands, when Scott , said, “ Mr. Noyes, I did uot think you was such a mao to kidnap my brother,” and with each ( word he spoke Scott got more excited. Noyes told him to keen cool. Scott raid, ‘‘you’ve come back now to kiunap me and you’ve brought my ]master along.” Thsre were tome two or three 1 colored men with Scott. Officer Isaiah Williams at this stage of the proceedings came up und I seeing a difficulty threatening, interfered, wnile Noyes told Scott to come to tin rooms und talk with him there and not make a row. Scoit then started West, and was followed at some distance by Noyes, bnt when near Kings-bury Hall, Scott, drawing a knife, made a rush for Noyes, and said be was *• bound to get revenge anyhow.” Williams again interfered, and tljey proceeded in the same way as before described: Scott with the e^lcred men intront, and Noyes u few feet behind, with hU brother, Jobn’Noyes, who had now joined the narty, and Williuuis. When near the corner of LaSaUe street, the colored men made another halt, and were joined by several others. Scott again drew his knife, and several others were atso unsheathed, and the affair uguin looked threatening, when the officer got between the parties, and Charley Noyes bolted elf around the corner, and we learn discreetly left town j on Sunday nieht The colored people are very indignant at Noyes’ coming back, and say that he shall not live in this town. Charles Noyes is under’$5,000Ibail, utid will probably return to take his trial.—Vourmi/.Noyes has been boasting aronnd town that ha would stand his trial, and when acquitted he would proeecute the Chicago papers for libel which had published accounts of his kidnapping exploit last fall. Guess he had better let that job out.
