Braves Win Loop Meet iy Big ScoreBaker Is Nearest Rival With 44 PointsPaced by Henry Doering, freshman dash ace, the Ottawa Uni-vevrsity Braves swept to the 1948 track and field championship last Friday at Baldwin, The Braves took seven firsts and a clean sweep in the javelin event to roll up 77 points.The Baker Wildcats placed second with 44 points, Kansas Wesleyan third with 15| points, Bethany scored 12 for fourth place, Bethel 9f for fifth, College of Emporia 5| for sixth, and McPherson | for seventh.Bob Haas of Baker turned in the only record breaking performance of the day when he breasted the tape ahead of the field in the 220 low hurdies in the time of 24.7 sec. This nmrk clipped three-tenths of a second of the time made -by Fred Walker in 1930.Doering. ran the century in 10 seconds flat and the 220-yard dash in 21.9 sec. in spite of me strong wind that was blowing across the track.
