TOURIST TRAFFICINCREASING.'\ • • . • ‘ 'A steady increase in the flow of automobile tourists through Gallup over the number for ,the corresponding period of last .year is reported by the hotels and garages of the city. Manager Belting of the Harvey House reports that where last year during the entire season he averaged only three motorpartie* daily, the Harvey House now' entertains an average of 17 automobiles parties daily. The Gallup Herald ;has not interviewed the other’hotels of the town, but it is fair to assume that they experience a proportionate increase. .A similar increase in tourist traffic is experienced by the Service Tire Accessories Co, Dick Barton of this concern, while unable to state the exact proportion of increase states that there is alt;very considerable difference., .• Both these men ascribe the increase in tourist traffic to the advertising that Gallup has secured through the automobile clubs, touring bureaus, and newspapers of the country since the first of the year, which the town has never received before. Ever since the re-organization of the Chamber of Commerce in January a consistent* and ; determined efforts has been made to correct the adverse reports of road conditions * which had been circulated vnthput contradiction before that «)me. .Road reports of various tourning bureaus sucli as the Automobile Club of Southern California, which heretofore carried reports, from Springer-ville only, now carry the report , from Gallup also. The bulletirt boads of all the tourning bureaus along the National Old Triails, and at all junctions with other ^highways carry the road reports of the Galjup Chamber ofCommerce;-V• . ' . o----
