Dearborn County Democratic Convention. The Dearborn County Democratic Con vention assembled in the Court House in Wilmington, on Saturday, the 16th day of May, 1840, pursuant to previous notice. At 11 o'clock, the Convention was call ed to order by Maj. A. E.Glenn,upon whose motion William Prery, Esq., of Manches ter, was appointed President pro tem.; and on motion of Mr. Geo. W. Lane, Willliam Lanivs was chosen Secretary pro tem. On motion of Maj. Glenn, it was Resolved, That a committee, to consist of one Delegate from each township, be appointed to nominate officers for the per manent organization of the Convention. Whereupon, the Chair announced the following gentlemen as that Committee : Alex. E. Glenn of Center, John Callahan of Lawrenceburgh, Daniel Conaway of Laughery, Abraham Hoover of Randolph, Isaac Reed of Union, Wm. Patterson of Casar Creek, Josiah Morehead of Clay, Daniel Grant of Jackson, John Lewis of Kelso, George Arnold of Logan, John Jackson of Miller, D. C. Paine of Sparta, David Tibbetts of Manchester. The committee retired for a few mo ments, and then returned and reported the names of the following gentlemen for offi cers of the Convention, to wit : PRESIDENT, Hon. AMOS LANE of Lawrenceburgh, Vice Preswents, Hon. A. J. Corron, of Manchester, Meart Husser, Esq., of Jackson, Groner Annorp, Esq., of Logan, Txonas Howand, Esq., of Randolph, Jon Jackson, Esq., of Miller, Ysaac Reep, Esq., of Union. SEcrETARIES, William Lantus of Randolph, Francis Batowin of Center, Sasven F. Expos of Clay. On motion of Col. A. C. Pepper, the nominations were unanimously concurred in. Mr. Lane having taken the Chair, re turned his thanks to the Convention, and stated the object thereof, in short but eloquent address. On motion of Geo. W. Lane, the Dele gates appointed to give the votes of the respective townships, then withdrew to the School House, for the purpose of nomina ting candidates for State and County offi cers. The following are the names of the Del egates : Lawrenceburgh township—A. L. Goble, J. H. Lane, Squire Watts, Jones McLes ter, Jacob Reese. Miller—Thomas Annis, Wm. Horner, Wm. Jackson, Samuel Crozier, Enoch W. Jackson. Logan—Mason J. Cloud, Geo. Arnold, Samuel Hallowell, Thomas Cottenham, George Bowlby. Kelso—Andrew Lonergan, J. F. Wat kins, Jacob Schmidt, Thomas Roberts, Jno. Lewis Jackson—John W. Engle, Geo. S. Wil liams, Lewis B. Conger, Z. S. Conger, Daniel Grant. Manchester—David Tibbetts, Benjamin Sylvester, Israel Noyes, Joseph Johnston, Isaac Morris. Sparta—Ebenezer Bedenah, John Co lumbia, Wilson Dorman, Ebenezer Roberts, Levi Boyd. Clay—Josiah Morehead, George Grove, Silas W. Egelston, Brambie, Wm. L. Abbott. Enion—Isaac Reed, Wm. Kittle, Tho mas Durbin, James R. Miller, David Huf ford. Laughery—Thomas Palmer, Benjamin Vail, Mahlon Powell, John B. Powell, Ro bert Conaway, Sr. Randolph——Thomas Lindsay, Samuel Fulton, Joseph P. Richardson, Thomas Bradley, William Lanius. Center—James W. Weaver, Francis Baldwin, Elijah Lindsay, Geo. W. Lane, B. F. Ferris. Col. Pepper then offered sundry resolu tions in relation to the call of a Convention to revise the Constitution of Indiana, which, upon his motion, were referred to commit tee, consisting of Col. Pepper, William Perry, Esq.,and Maj. Warren Tebbs. The Convention then took a recess un til one o’clock.. One o’clock, P. M. The Convention met pursuant to ad journment, and was ably and eloquently addressed by James T. Brown, Esq., Hon. Amos Lane, and Col. A. C. Pepper, whose remarks were received with the greatest applause. Mr. G. W. Lane, on behalf of the Dele gates appointed to nominate candidates, then announced to the Convention that the following gentlemen had been nominated for the respective offices to be filled at the next August election, to wit : For Senator, Col. ABEL C. PEPPER, of Randolph. For Representatives, WILLIAM CONAWAY of Laughery, DANIEL TAYLOR of Jackson, JOHN P. DUNN of Lawrenceburgh, T. M. BRECKENRIDGE of Logan. Sheriff, JAMES P. MILLIKEN of Manchester. _ Coroner, AARON L. GOBLEo of Lawrenceburgh. Associate Judge, FRANCIS BALDWIN of Center. Commissioner, JOHN LEWIS of Kelso ‘ind om the question of agreeing to the nominations, they were unanimously con firmed by the Convention.
