The weekend meet was to select an Olympic diving team. But, in light of Canada's support of a U.S.-backed boycott of the Summer Games in Moscow to protest Soviet military intervention in Afghanistan, the team won’t be going to Moscow.The divers selected to the national team (Nutter, Cranham, Armstrong, Fuller, MacKay, David Snively of Lachine, Que., and Eniko Kiefer of Montreal) had to settle for either a trip to Europe or Asia instead.
