The Winfield - Mt. Union track team won the class B division of the Ft. Madison Relays Tuesday night with 33 points, edging out Mediapolis which had 31. Rushville, Al. was third with 30 and New Lon don fourth with 29. Some 14 schools competed in class B. Mediapolis led going into the last event but the Wolves placed second in the mile relay and Mediapolis fourth to win the meet. Bob Nelson, Monty Thomson, Jim Chrisinger and Steve Norder ran on the team. ithe time was 3:37.3. The WMU 880 yard relay team (Nelson, Duane Johnson, Chrising er, Norder) won in 1:35.1 and Nor der capped the 100 yard dash in 10.5. Nelson was second in the 440 yard dash; Eric Pankoke, fifth in the 120 yard high hurdles and the 440 yard relay team (Mark Bit ting, Thomson, Chrisinger, John son) was fourth. Paul Laipple of New London won the 220 yard dash in 22.0 and the 440 yard dash in 52.3. He was also third in the 880 yard run in 2:08. The Tiger mile medley relay team (Norm Krier, Stan Kuhlenbeck, Jim Johnson, Gary Dustman) won in 3:51.7. The mile relay (Jerry Wali Stavern, Krier, Kuhlenbeck, John son) was fourth. In girls events, the New London 880 yard relay team (Brenda Cole, Peg Willey, Janene Schroeder, Jeri Johnson) won in 1:48.7, 4 new re cord. New London held the old mark of 1:50.3 set last year. The New London 440 yard relay (same run ners) won in :51.9, also a new mark. The old record was :52.1 by Central in 1967. Schroeder won the 100 yard dash in :11.7 and Johnson was third Miss Schroeder set a new record of :11.5 in the preliminaries.
