The name was drawn at the regular meeting of the Waco Independent School District Board of Trus-tees Thursday.Banks submitting bids wereFirst National Banak, Citizens National Bank, Take Air National Bank and National City Bank. The bids of three banks were similiar with the excep-tion of Number 7 on the specification sheet which dealt with waiver of fees for the paying agents of school bonds. National City Bank was not included in the drawing because of their lower rate of mterest to be paid on average dailybasis.Dr. Joseph R. Griggs, Vice-Chairman of the board of the Texas Retired Teachers Residence Corporation appeared before the trustees to ask them to drop the suit now pending against the residence for nonpayment of taxes. In his statement to the board he said the home would tiave to close if they were forced to pay this additional 515,000 each '•ear to the City of Waco and Schooldistrict for advalorem taxes.The home was situated in Waco because of a 1959 committment in which it was stated the residence would be tax free. Cocke estimatedtliat from the date of signuig of a contract till finish of the job would be three months onadditions.Superintendent Avery- Downing informed the board members that each school principal is now preparing his txid-get for the coming year. He said they are being prepared without the adjustment for a proposed teacher raise now before the legislature in Austin.If it passes, he said that Wa-coans can expect a substantialtax rate increase.Williams Chemical Company was awarded the bid of 150 cases of Toilet Tissue at $8.75a case.East Texas Paving Co. was approved to put two coats of slurry seal on the parking lot atRichfield High School which isowned by the Heart O* I exas Fair Association. They will apply the slurry seal at 25C per sq. yard not to exceed$1999.Mrs. M. M.
