Hopson, saidthat we could have a dance after our graduation at the Red Diamond Club, a club which our class had formed that year.Thus did we become lowly Freshmen at BHS. Our first high school officers were: Pres.—Peggy Corley, V. Pres.—Jim Morrow, Sec.-Treas.—Margi Oglehby and Rep.—Tricia Andrews. Peggy Corley, Tricii Andrews and Sharon Hurley were cheerleaders from the Senior class; Marla Rees began her 3rd year as drum major of the Bronte Longhorn Band. In the sixth grade Ronnie Sims, Lynn Phillips, Jim Morrow, Bob Strickland and Gerald Parker itripped Sammy Belcher with a rope and tied him to a tree. The principal must have convinced them that wasn’t the thing to do, so they started sitting in trees with their girlfriends. Mrs. J. T. Peggy was elected high school cheerleader and hand sweetheart (that year; Tricia Andrews was chosen as the best groomed girl, Beth Ivey was in the one act play production of “The Glass Menagerie,” and Ida Lee Parker went to the state literary meet in debate. Although they did have a hard time with Jack Corley, Dee Ar-rott, Donald Hester, and the rest of those monstrous Seniors, the Freshmen boys weren’t afraid to play football. Beth Ivey began her four year career as manager of the girls basketball team thisyear.Soon the lowly “Fish” became Sophomores and we added three new members (to our dass: Kathy Terry, Jerry Don Holcombe, and Sharon Hurley.
