COMMISSIONERS SIGN THEHIGHWAY CONTRACTTin* members of the hoard of county commissioners, after a two day'a ses-aion and deliberation, signed a contract last Wednesday, week with the E. L. Phelps Construction Co., to bnild twelve miles of hard surfaced road through Bonneville county, whieh will be one of the connecting links on the Idaho Falls-Yellowstone Highway and which means that the hundreds of automobile toarists will pass through the country to and from the Yellowstone Park which will be open to automobile travel on August 1st, this year, and will, in most instances, make Idaho Falls the stopping place for the night in and out of the park, as this city is within an easy day's drive to the park.Mr. I'helpa, of the construction company and the committee, composed of Otto McCutcheon, A. V. Scott and A. T. Shane, appointed by the Club of Commerce, spent a great part of the time the commissioners were in session with them. The highway will parallel the 8hort Line railroad from the south county line just north of Shelley to Idaho Falls, north to Beach's oorner, then to Ucon and from there to the north line of the county to Jefferson county. The state highway engineer is now with his assistants in Bingham county driving the grade stakes for the work in that county. Madison county has completed its portion of the highway as has Fremont county to the line of tha Forest reserve.
