PEOPLE’S PARTY.Delegates to the Omaha National Convention, July 4, and Electors for the State Selected.Danvili.k, III., May 20.—The state convention of tiie people’s party was held here yesterday. Win. Hess, of Pittsfield, was temporary chairman, and W. E. Robinson, of Greenfield, permanent chairman. Resolutionsof condolence in memory of Gilbert Delamater were passed. Ben Tyrell, of l'exas, addressed the convention. District delegates and j electors and electors and delegates at large to the national convention, July 4, were selected. The platform reaffirms the declarations of the St. Louis platform; declares constitutional the right to free speech, press and assembly; favors compulsory edu cation, free text books and is against convict labor. It declares against appropriations of interest on the public money by public officers, ami favors an amend ment to the constitution making a weekly pay day and a law against truck stores.I It favors an amendment to the state | constitution granting equal suffrage.The delegates to the Omaha convention were instructed to present the name ! of S. F. Norton, of Chicago, for president. H. E. Tatibeneck was nominated for governor by acclamation,but he declined. A. M. Bennett, of Paulsville, was nominated for the same office. Charles D. Dixon was nominated for lieutenant governor; F. G. Blood, of Mt. Vernon, secretary of state; J. W. McElroy, of Rosemond, for treasurer; Jesse Cox, of Chicago, for attorney-general; S. C. Hill, of Martinsville, for auditor.
