i Bad Thomas J. i .' t 1| Comes now a distressing report from j lt;c | Oherlin, Ohio. Robert Jefferson (off ^ color) should have died. There is noth- j s ing remarkable in that, for having been j ( born in 1803 he could have expected | j little better luck than to die during the j \ century. Robert was well know here ; j s nor is that strange, since, judging from ( j j the panorama upon the pavements, half j j of our fellow men and fellow sisters arc j ] fellow citizens of African descent, who j ] parade the street without prejudice on j« account of previous condition of servitude, and Robert being a prominent man, was known to these valuable citizens. But the reader will begin to get upon his ear when we tell him that Rob-j crt Jefferson, recently deceased and now dead, was the sou of bad Thomas Jefferson his father. And Thomas Jefferson was an infidel! The mother of Robert Jefferson, deceased as aforesaid, was an Ethiop and a slave. She should have been pretty. The sage of Monti-cello came, saw and overcame. Robert Jefferson, for the sake of hia infidel father, seemed to have gloried in the dreadful sin of his Christian mother. And the descendants of the immortal Thomas Jefferson ran out with the death of his sooty son Robert. There is room here for a sermon by the able Talmage. Let us have a rousing religious roar over this iniquitous infidel irregularity.
