LaFERRIERE: Irene Marie An toinette LaFerriere of St. Lazare, MB passed away on May 3, 2017 at Russell Health Centre, Russell at the age of 94 years. Irene LaFerri ere was born Marie Antoinette Irene Chartier at St. Lazare on June 29, 1922. She was baptized in St. Lazare Roman Catholic Church. From this day forward, church and prayer would continue to be a very important part of Irene’s life. At age 14, while working with the nuns at Birtle Hospital, she met her future husband, Denis LaFerriere. Irene and Denis were married on Jan. 2, 1941 at the St. Lazare Church. The couple moved many times while raising five children until settling on a farm near St. Lazare. Irene loved her family, her faith and her farm. Irene was predeceased by her hus band Denis LaFerriere, brothers Al bert Chartier, Leopold Chartier and Alphonse Chartier; sisters Lorette Perreault, Cecil Plante and Majella Fillion. She is survived by her sons Henri LaFerriere and Cyril LaFerri ere; three daughters Denise La belle, Henriette LaFerriere and Pauline Hegarty; 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother Jean Chartier and three sisters Jeanne Gaucher, Marie-Anne Peloquin and Claire Levac. Prayers were held on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. from the St. Lazare Roman Catho lic Church. The funeral mass was held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from the St. Lazare Ro man Catholic Church with Father Rene Katcha Digba and Rev. Dea con Conrad Plante officiating. In terment followed in the St. Lazare Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeremy LaFerriere, Joel LaFerriere, James LaFerriere, Denis Labelle, Damien Labelle and Lyle Bryant. If friends so desire donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service, Russell were in care of arrange ments.
