Allen Grant, who owns a plant in Nome, has forwarded it to the new Eldorado, so there will be two newspapers at Iditarod before the end of July.The following extracts from letters written at Fairbanks, April 20, have been amply confirmed by later telephones from Iditarod, carried to Seward for transmission.Everybody here Is crazy over Iditarod. This district will be depopulated as soon as navigation opens. Archie Mitchell wires the prospects are as good as reported. Pay dirt has been found on Flat Beach, Willow, Otter and several other creeks. The Bates brothers ‘lay’ on Otter Is yielding pansrunning from $5 to $26, and one pan running $250 was taken out. Grey and Stew’art are taking machinery for Flat Creek, where they have uncovered a forty-foot ledge eight feet deep, that averages from 8 to 10 cents to the pan.
