Funeral conducted for Galena OrstadFuneral services for Mrs. Galena B. Orstad were held May 11 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. The Rev. James Knudson officiated.Mrs. Irven Olsen, organist, accompanied the duet of Mrs. Charles Osheim and Mrs. James Knudson who sang “The Old Rugged Cross and “Rock of Ages. The congregation sang What A Friend We Have In Jesus,Casket bearers included Donald Albertson, Delbert Carolus, Irven Olsen, Charles Osheim, David Osheim and Roger Osheim.Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Forest City.Galena B. Orstad was born near Thompson November 18, 1899. The daughter of Hans and Annie (Quarn) Osheim,she was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church near Thompson. She received her education in a rural school near her home.She was married to Guy A. Orstad at the Methodist Church parsonage in Forest City. They made their home on a farm south of Thompson for 19 years, then moved to Hayfleld, Minn., for three years, later returning to live on an acreage near Forest City for several years. After her husband’s death on September 19, 1971, Mrs. Orstad returned to Thompson where she lived until entering the Good Shepherd Heatlh Center at Mason City in 1980.Mrs. Orstad died May 8, 1989, at Good Shepherd Health Center at the age of 89 years.
