Terry Gene Johnson ranks first scholastically in the Bauxite High School graduating class of 1976. The others in the top four in the class are (listed alphabetically), Nathania Kay Smyth, Mitchell Wayne Tull and H. Vacque. Johnson, the son of Mrs. Sharon Johnson of 1606 Lenore, Benton, plans to work for a year, then enroll at the University of Houston to study computer technology. Miss Smyth, the daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Glee G. Symth of Benton, plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and major in accounting. Tull is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tull of Route 4, Benton. He plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas and take a pre pharmacy course. Vocque, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Vocque of Route 1, Bauxite, plans to study agriculture at the University of Central Arkansas. Other “high honor graduates” at Bauxite this year are Steve Barnes, Bobby Carroll Floyd, Tony Leonard Henthorne, Lynesa Kay Hodshire, Karen Kidd, Horace Dale Kitchens, Alan D. Montgomery and Elton DeWayne Shepherd. Barnes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barnes of Bauxite. He plans to study pre-engineering or coaching at Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. Floyd, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth J. Floyd of Alexander, will enter the Navy this summer and receive training as a nuclear reactor specialist. Henthorne, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Henthorne of Benton, plans to attend Ouachita Baptist University at Arkadelphia and major in business. Miss Hodshire, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hodshire of Benton, will study nursing at Arkansas State University. Miss Kidd, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Kidd of Bauxite, plans to study business marketing at SCA. Kitchens, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Kitchens of Route 4, Benton, plans to study pre engineering at UCA. Montgomery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvis Montgomery of Bauxite, plans to attend ASU and study marketing. Shepherd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Shepherd of Bauxite, plans to enter the Navy. Six students listed as ‘‘honor graduates” are Barbara Jane Burke, Judith Diane Coppock, Charlotte Louise Davis, Pamela Kay Kitchens, Cindy Renee Thompson and Randy R. Vergason. Miss Burke, the daughter of Mr. James R. Burke of Route 4, Benton, will work in Little Rock after graduation. Miss Coppock, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Coppock of Route 4, Benton, and plans to attend UCA and study business. Miss Davis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Davis of Route 1, Bauxite, plans to work after graduation. Miss Kitchens, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kitchens of Route 4, Benton , plans to be married this summer. Miss Thompson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.L. Thompson of Route 1, Alexander, plans to study music at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Vergason, the son of Mrs. Lorraine Vergason of Route 1, Bauxite, plans to work a year as a carpenter, then attend Southwestern Institute.
