Roy WhetzelWAYNESBORO - Roy Whelzel, 76, of Rt. 1, Stuarts Draft, formerly of Rt. 1, Harrisonburg, died in Waynesboro Community Hospital Tuesday evening.He was born April 8, 1896 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Monroe and Elizabeth Kone Whetzel.He was a member of the Singers Glen United Methodist Church.Surviving are two sons, Wayne and Wyath Whetzel, both of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Watson and Mrs. Roxie Hedrick, both of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Mrs. Tracey Thornett of Arlington and Mrs. Fleta Walker of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, George Whetzel of Kirkwood, Mo.; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Augusta Memorial Park here by the Rev. Laughton Corr.The body is at the McDow- 1 Tyree Funeral home here where it the family will receive friends 7— 1 8 p.m. today.!!I]
