VicePioneer Cosgrove Man DiesiFollowing Lingering IllnesstMr. Nicholas Scheetz, one of the grand old gentlemen of the Cosgrove district, passed away at his home inUnion township early Thursday morn** ing. Death followed a lingering Illness. He would have been 85 the 23rd- day of September, this year.He was one of the oldest men. in the Cosgrove district and had lived on the same fanm in Union township for 62 years, moving there shortly after his marriage in -1875.Mr. S'cheetz, who was well known in the county, was born in Pennsylvania and moved to this county1 with •his parents when he was a small boy; He has resided here ever since,“He was married to Miss Mary Alta-mier in Johnson county in 1875. Mrs. Scheetz preceded her husband in death on October 27, 1923.Mr. Schfeetz was a devout and faithful member of St. Peter’s church ofCosgrove.He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. H. W. Amelon of Iowa City and Sister Mary Nicholas of Marshalltown; five sons, Adam and John of Iowa City, Jake, Nicholas A., and George of Cosgrove; one brother, John J., of Union township ,and 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Funeral services were held at 9 o’clock Saturday morning at St. Peter’s church in Cosgrove and burial was made in the nearby parish cemetery.\ • ' 4 4 -S-*.$ Ur?, afev :Ww;A.V»t? txd.
