President Fitz-(»»rald being absent, Vice President Bishop oc-supted the chair.A resolntlon was adopted instructing the Engineer to inquire if there is any house on Pike street, between Pearl and Third, occnpying the line of the street, and if so, to report upon the practicability of removing it.Also, a resolution directing the Engineer to report upon the practicability of extending the south wall ef Sixth-street Market-house southwardly eight feet. Adopted.A resolution to place lamp-posts on Young street, between Ringgold and Slack streets, was adopted.The following resolution, offered toy Mr Brook bank, created quite a sensation:W hire as. It Is currently reported that the Sewerage Commission have been and are now constructing a sewer on the private property of Mr. Lewis Glenn, one of the members ofsaid commission, at jjreat expense, that Is netrequired for the public benefit, but is solely for the private advantage of said member, and that other sewers have been, or are about to be, constructed for private use at public expense; therefore, be itResolved, That a special committee of three from this board, in connection with the Committee en Law and Contracts, be appointed to investigate the matter of the construction of said sewer on the property of said Glenn, situated in the First ward, between East Front street and the Ohio river; and to investigate the action of said commission in the construe tion of any other sewer where charges of like kind shall be preferred, with full power to summon witnesses and compel them to testify and that they report their proceedings to this board at their next regular meeting.Upon the reading of this resolution everything was so quiet that a pin, if dropped on the floor, could have been heard. But, after this came the threatening storm, in the shape of the humming of voices ©t dissatisfied officials, but it was abated by the timely amendment of Major Cos horn, to “refer the matter to a special committee of three, from each Board, in connection with the Chairman of the Sewerage Committee.”As thus amended, the resolution was adopted, the chair appointed Messrs. Brookbank, Gob-horn and Miiler, as the committee.The Board was notified that the University Trustees had relinquished their right to the use of any portion of the Orphan Asylum lot, and asking that the south portion of the lot, including that occupied by the old brick building, be placed under the control of the Park Commissioners.
