A Pink and Blue Shower was given Saturday night for Mrs. John Mac Johnson.Mrs. E.E. Albritton of Hurst underwent surgery there this week. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Boyce Campbell, and well known here, she is fine.Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Pearce and Mrs. Bill Whittle spent Mothers Day in Clarksville with the Pete Pearces.Weekend guests of the Hershel Smiths were Charles SMith, Ft. Worth and Mrs. Hattie Latimer, Clarksville.Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale Garrison visited in Lindale with the David Montgomerys this weekend.Spending the Mothers Davwith Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Latimer *per Mr. and Mrs. Larry Banks, Jason and Beth of Mesquite and Joe Latimer of Greenville.Mr. an dMrs. Buell Rogers spent the weekend in Garland with their two daughters and families.Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Worth, Jean and Mary Kay Cowan were students at ACU.Funeral services were held in Mt. Pleasant fo rMrs. Maurice Nichols, who died Thursday, after an extended illness. She wass the siter of Mrs. Lena Gibson. She had a long struggle with cancer. She had made a trip to Athens, Greeca a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Phillips, of Bryan were here to attend the funeral.Mr. and Mrs. Morris Phillips and Stephen Phillips were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Phillips, of Paris Sunday.Mrs. Lavyn Sisco, of Sulphur Springs, visited her mother, Mrs. Robbie Wright, Saturday.Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gibbs had as Sunday guests the Bobby Prestons, of Paris, the Delma Gibbs, the Venita Oldfields and Mrs. Robbie Wright.Detroit Church of ChristGroup 2 met Monday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Ballard, of Clardy to Bonham to visit with their sister anddaughter, Louellen Hanna.Mr. and Mrs. WillisMorgan spent Mothers Day in Reno with the Don Halls.Waymen Epps Funeral Waymen Epps, of Deport died at his residence Thursday, May 10. He had been ill for several weeks.Services were conducted Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Deport, with the Rev. O.V. Slaton and the Rev. Tom Earls officiating. Burial was made in Highland Cemetery by Grant Funeral Home.He ws bom April 24,1929 in Deport. He was the son of John and Tommie Chesshire Epps. He married Alva Nell Thomas on April 11,1954, inDeport.Survivors include his wife, Alva Epps, three daughters, Patricia Luchet, of Mt. Pleasant; Brenda Skidmore, of Deport; and Bonita Brown, of Deport; one sister, Odell Gray, Motley, Minnesota; and sixgrandchildren.Mr. Epps was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wayne Epps, in 1969. The family received friends Friday night from 7-8 at Grant Funeral Home Chapel.Some of the out of town relatives attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Hillman Pittman and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blalock of Quitman; Jack Griffin, Abilene; Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hamm of Clarksville, Mrs. Ethel Epps, Fulbright, Mr. and Mrs. D.K. Thames, Detroit.Miss Amanda Ellis ofTyler, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Adams has been elected into the Distinguished Students of America Society. Her mother is the former Linda Adams, a student of Detroitschools.Miss Stacy Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Miller, has been selected to represent the Bpand W for May.Stacy is a 1982 honorgraduate of Detroit High School. She has had many honors during her school years in many sectors.At PJC she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, listed on the vice president’s list, a Who’s Who Among National Junior Colleges, staff writer for The Bat and a member of PJC Show Choir.Stacy is a very talented person, with a very great personality and Detroit is happy to claim her ass part of the city.A very large crowd wss in attendance at Martin Methodist Church, Sunday. Among the many visitors were: Mrs. Mary A. Davis, of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Bernice Gibson, DeSoto, with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bob Brooks were their two daughters, Mrs. Phil Brooks, Bogwell, and others. We were so happy to have Mrs. Mirty Pratt, who has resided in a Nursing Home in Paris for several weeks and undergone knee surgery.
