10 YEARS AGO TODAY From the Files of The Independence Examiner Antiques on display at the Jackson County Library in clude Staffordshire figurines belonging to Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Tucker, 825 N. Main, whose collection began years ago when an aunt of Mr. Tucker gave them a pair of small black and white cats. Modern Staffordshire fig urines are coming into this country now from the same pottery area where the old ones were made, and made from the same molds. Joe H. Dorzab, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Dorzab, owners of the Ben Franklin Store in Englewood, has re ceived appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado. The county park and lake on the east fork of the Little Blue River were given an of ficial name today. Hence forth the big body of water will be called “Lake Jacomo” and the surrounding ground will be called “Jacomo Park.” Swooping screech owls were reduced in number Sat urday when Sgt. George Hay ton answered a complaint call from Mr. and Mrs. William H. Ford, 122 E. College, and dis posed of three of the birds. He borrowed a .410 shotgun from Ray Luther.
