Harris of 1309 North Fielder Road, with a four year grade average of 95.385 is valedictorian, according to an announcement made Friday by Principal John Webb, Jr.With an average of 95.351, Kathleen McNulty ranked second in a class of almost 500. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. McNulty of 105 Parkwood. —Principal Webb pointed out that 70 students in this class have four-year averages of 90 or above.AniKMincement has also been made of two Fielder Award winners. They are Pamela Jane Morrison and Paul Leighton Tubb. This award made possible by Robert Fiflder of Van Alstyne, an AHS graduate, is an outstanding student award that started in 1932.Parents of the award winners are Mr. and Mrs.J,P.Morrison. Jr. of 1200 West Cedar, and Mr. and Mrs.C.F. Gordon Cooper splashed safely down in the Pacific.The same sort of explosive relief affected many beach watchers and residents of this space community who stood by Thursday in the dramatic last moments of the 22,9--orbit Journey of Faith 7.Two shifts of Mercury officials handled the flight, and both wore on hand in the crowded control centerforthe splashdown.Lt. Col. John (Shorty) Powers, spokesman for the astronauts and voice of Project Mercury during most of the flight, broke out the cigars before the capsule actually hit the water.'This room is somewhat crowded, Powers reported over the public address system. ‘The cigars are already out.
