This was done despite the recent invalidisation by he High Court of a clause in the union's award which limited Saturday trading by butchers in Victoria, ‘The effect of the High Court's judgment was that Vic torian butchers may open their shops every Saturday in the year. ‘The meeting instructed the union to organise squads of tickets in Melbourne and sub urbs to enforce its decision. The secretary of the union, Mr G. Seelaf, “said that the union’ was appealing to the public and housewives to buy week-end meat before Satu days. It also appealed to house wives not to deal with butchers who opened their shops on Saturdays.
