LAKE CO. FEDERATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE HOLDS LAST MEET OF YEARMra. Frank Sheehan .Of Gary i Dunes, was hostess to the members i' of the executive committee of the i Lake County Federation of Clubs at 3 her home last Friday for the finaltmeeting of the year. A poMuek luncheon was served. During the business session work for the club year was reviewed in detail and many plans were discussed for the 1945-46 season.The president. Mrs. L. E. Boroughs of East Chicago, presided and other members present wrere: 'Mrs. Lawrence Turnquist. Cedar Lake, i 1st vice-pesident: Mrs. Foster Turner, Gary, 2nd vice-president; Mrs.R. M. Black, East Chicago, junior secretary; Mrs .Jdme sLittle, Lowell, treasurer; Mrs. Paul Knight, Crown Point, and Mrs. Arnold Ulbrich of East Chicago, directors.During the discussion it was decided to combine certain county departments in order to make it more interesting for the chairman and the women in general in the local clubs. Much time and detail Is eliminated with the new plans. Mrs. Turnquist will work on this program during the summer.Mrs. Sheehan was appointed to act as county historian and is to bring up to date all records and material that pertain to the work of the federation as a county group-since local clubs keep their own records. Material in the hands of Iocat members would be appreciated for tihis project.In reviewing the wor of the year Mrs. Boroughs reminded members that the accomplishments of the club women had been greater thaji ever before in spite of the war. They have seen the importance of correlating their home life, war work and club work.There have been 22 regular county department chairmen working under the supervision of Mrs. Turnquist. and 14 county war service chairmen with Mrs. J. C. Austin of East Chicago chairman. Lake county has had special mention it] from the state for the great amount h of war service and sales carried on by the women in the federation. The two new committees. Art Salon held in January at. Minas’ .j in Hammond. For this art move-1 c, ment did a great amount of work and created a great deal of interest in art.Tt is the opinion of those familiar with the women groups over tbe state that the county federation is as always living up to their aim, To have a group of organized women in every part of the county who can be depended upon to promote every interest looking toward the betterment of life.”rlt;PMDMniGRRP
