Play To Benefit Academy BandThrough the cooperation of Wellington S. Jones of Albany, a native of Lowville and a past New York State Kiwanis governor, the Krwanis Club of Lowville will sponsor a presentation of “Popeye, the Sailor” with Harry Foster Welch in person, in a benefit play for the Lowville Academy school band.Mr. Welch is the original and only real “Popeye”. He is nationally, known “as the man with a million voices”and lives up to his reputation in the art of eating spinach. The Lowville Academy band is badly in need of new uniforms and. additional instruments. The opportunity of obtaining the services of Harry Foster Welch, to help in this project is very unusual and provides entertainment for the people of Lewis County that could not be seen or heard except in the metropolitan districts.
